Homeowners shopping for a garage floor coating are increasingly encountering aggressive same-day sales presentations tied to fast “1-day” installations.
Industry professionals say these tactics are often designed to prevent homeowners from slowing down, comparing products, and reviewing warranty details carefully.
The “Inflate, Discount, Close” Sales Strategy
Many companies operate using what is known as a same-day close model. The salesperson arrives prepared to secure the contract during the first appointment, often using urgency-driven pricing and dramatic product claims to speed up the decision.
Homeowners may hear:
- “This price is only good today.”
- “If you sign now, we can take 30% off.”
- “Our coating is far stronger than epoxy.”
While these offers sound appealing, homeowners should focus less on the sales pitch and more on how the garage floor coating is actually installed.
A long-lasting garage floor coating starts with mechanically grinding the concrete to create proper adhesion. A moisture-mitigating epoxy primer is then applied, followed by decorative flake and multiple polyaspartic clearcoats for durability and UV protection.
Because each layer needs time to cure properly, quality garage flooring installations are typically completed over two days. When installers rush the process to finish in a single day, the risk of peeling, blistering, bubbling, and delamination can increase significantly.
Warranty Claims Should Be Reviewed Carefully
Many garage floor coating companies advertise 15-year, 20-year, or lifetime warranties, but homeowners should carefully review the written exclusions before signing.
Some warranties exclude moisture-related failures, hot tire transfer, impact damage, automotive fluids, and normal wear and tear. These are among the most common causes of garage floor coating problems over time.
